Does anyone have any approaches as to how fit AR furniture to a "sporter" style synthetic stock? Mostly the buffer and the pistol grip. I don't think I will need a hand guard, but that might beelpful as well...

It's a Marlin 795. Synthetic Stock.
That will be quite an undertaking. The buffer tube is threaded and screws into the lower receiver.
From the look of the stock on the Marlin there isn't enough stock behind the receiver to drill and thread a hole large enough for the tube.
You will probably end up having to making an adapter like the Brobee adapter for 870 shotguns.
If you don't have access to a machine shop the cost won't be worth the end result.
