The in-line buttstock adapter on the Mossberg 590r prevents you from adding a Mesa Tactical 6 shot saddle to the gun as it is out of the box:

A little bit of material needs to be removed for it to sit flat against the receiver. You will lose 1 screw on the backing plate but you could drill and tap a replacement in another location if that's a problem for you. I used a file because it allowed me to easily contour the removal and remove material in small increments. After I was satisfied with the removal and fit, I used fine sandpaper to remove the rough tool marks from the file:

Installed and completed. As you can see I removed a little more material than necessary but still satisfied with the result. On my model the safety does clear the backing plate but maybe due to tolerances a light filing might be required on that portion of the backer plate too for some people.

Total time to complete was about an hour.
