I like lever guns.So far I have:
.22 Mag - small game & varmints.
.308 Marlin Express - up to Whitetail Deer, long range.
.45-70 (with leverevolution 325 gr.) up to large game at closer range or in
brush.
Other than 12 guage, that fills all my hunting needs.

Here is what I have, I believe that it fills the gaps, just in my own way. I also have a 270 in there too. I believe the 270 or 30-06 would do in stead of the 260 / 300wsm, but more guns is good.
.22 LR - semi (just more fun that way)
.204 - vamints (could be 223, 22-250, ...)
.260 - deer (or 243, 7-08)
.300wsm - moose, elk, bear (7mag, 300win mag, ...)
50 cal muzzle loader
12 gauge shotgun

8x57 - general use, 200 grains @ 2500fps will do for just about everything.
45-70 - saddlegun comes in handy both on horses and quads.
12 gauge - birds, and also those areas that don't allow rifles.

Those would be my picks as well. Maybe going to 338 Edge over 338WM if I felt like having one wildcat in the bunch...
Honestly, I believe a guy can do it all with .22lr, 30-06 and a 12g. In Grandpa's day that is pretty much what everyone did!
Now me -- I like to "finesse" and I have more money for guns than Grandpa did so:

Of course some will say there is redundancy in this list and there is but I have fun and all the "holes" are plugged!
If I were so lucky as to go to Africa or the "land of great big bears" for example, I would select one of the real biggies like .416 Rigby.
