On brothers and sisters, as there has been no more votes put into the last poll in awhile of the top 10, its now time to take the top 5, and vote for the top personal weapon of WW2. You have one vote and one vote only. I have had fun with these polls over the last several weeks, and I hope you all had fun two. Vote and enjoy any and all comments.

I voted for the MR (STGw) 44. Why??

It is the precursor of all modern assault rifles. Magazine fed, medium power cartridge, select fire, pistol grip.

The Wehrmacht was the first armed force that realized that, as warfare evolved, a full-power rifle cartridge really wasn't needed. German after-action reports analysis showed that most firefights took place at 200-400 yds, not the up-to 1000 yds that their rifle cartridge (8mm Mauser) was designed for, so they developed a new round, the 7.92x33 Kurz, and a rifle that became the STG 44 to fire it. It was VERY popular with the troops especially on the Eastern Front.

MG42 all the way! Only problem is she eats ammo a little quick, perfect rate of fire for mowing down enemies though! You can rest assured every inch of area has been covered when you spray it around!

you have Bren gun over the K98?? The bren gun you would be lucky to hit someone at 5o yds!

Yup and I think a lot of guys who packed K-98's found that out a long time ago.

Same as I'd rather pack a No 4 Mk 1 than a K-98 and I'd rather have a Bren than a No 4 Mk 1.

every single one of these weapons is a first class gun, and impossible to choose because they are different type and calibre. A sub machine gun would not be my first choice for 100 yard plus shooting, and neither would a bren gun be considered a rifle, so its impossible to choose with any real logic. They were all first class firearms for their type.

Well it they are the top 5 picked out of the top 10 who where picked out of 4 other polls with Americanm, Russian, German and UK. So its going to be hard now to pick out the best.

Just fired touch157 MG 42 today at the range...
HOT DAMM!!!
Now I know why they call it "Hitller's Buzz Saw" I think that was the most fun I had with my pants on. No joke!
