Thanks Westicle. Oh hey I'll check to see if I'm off during the gun show at Dawson. I mentioned it to two of my coworkers as well.
They have a new round thats not armor piercing but still has significant velocity. I was hoping that would be allowed in Canada.
This pistol is a new concept, much like the Glock, and the steryl Aug. Most people hated them at first. "It's plastic" was the first cry. Turned out both were very inovative and ahead of the times. I'm interested in this firearm for the same reason. Although I'm very much in the minority I'm wondering if this is the pistol that law enforcement has been looking for. It's light, 2/3 of the recoil of a 9mm, holds 20 rounds, is said to be very accurate, penetrates armor, windshields etc, but is a tumbling round so over penetration is said not to be an issue. Of course the biggest argument is that it doesn't have the stopping power. Reports have shown that the bullet fired by the Five-seveN traveling at 2100 fps (vs under 1000 fps for a hollow point 9mm police round)has more stopping power than the current 9mm. The shock from the velocity of the round is apparently very effective at stopping people. also less likely to ricochet off brick walls.
Just one of those firearms that's peaked my interest.
