Hello team,

Happy Easter to all! I was out shooting some clays on my buddy's farm by the Kawarthas this weekend when I ran into a little problem with my new SXS Stoeger Coach Shotgun. I purchased it yesterday from Bass Pro in Vaughn and gave it a good cleaning before taking it out.

I load two rounds, fire one, and I want to unload. So I press on the lever lock but it doesn't break open. I shoot the second round, press on the lever and it breaks open just fine.

I then load a single shot into the left barrel, fire it and turn the lever lock, it won't break. Dry fire the second barrel turn the lever lock, and it breaks.

Do I need to fire both rounds to break open the gun?

thanks again, and sorry if this is a silly question.

cheers,
Toronto Rifle.

Thanks Hunter5425, that was what I thought... any idea what it may be? I like how it shoots and like sxs in general but it doesn't feel right

Brand new ... it might need a bit to break it in

Use some grease on the hinge (Take it apart to do ) barrel / action
and try some grease on the locking parts

Stoeger is in oshawa if you need repairs.... prob closed ..

Thank you. I am going to give that a try.

Good to know they're in Oshawa.
I'll give Stoeger a call tomorrow if the grease doesn't do it.

I have done a bit of work on a older SXS

I use a good grease on the hinge & pin ... better than oil in that location .... put it together open/ close it a few times and then wipe off the excess

Brand new gun .. if a good cleaning / grease and a few boxes of shells and it still gives problems contact Stoeger
