just an update, after some research and talking to a gunsmith it was determined that the follower lever was indeed bent, probably from welding the tab, upwards. Causing the follower to be tilted downward toward the chamber side causing the fail to feed on the last round. I bent the arm down where it should be (didn’t take much) and now it feed flawlessly after over 100 rounds for a test run. Can’t get it to jam if I tried. I figure i would update invade someone else is experiencing the same issues. Thanks

Took my sks out shooing today for the first time. Works fine and seems accurate, but for some reason the last round 98% of the time jams the same way. Can sometimes get it to chamber by racking the bolt back a few times. Fired 60 rounds through it.

My guess would be that when they welded the stop on magazine arm, it took out any bend that there may have been. With the bend gone there would be less upward pressure on the last round.

Ovenlander2018 - the problem is not stove pipe of shell but failure to insert into chamber. I also agree that rifle chamber needs to be clean as well of entire rifle. On SKS total cleaning is mandatory for proper shooting. When stop was welded, it must of been clamped onto bar, so therefore it could have straightened arm.

you were right it was the arm that was bent, most likely from welding the tab. Only it was too much upwards, causing the follower to nose dive making the last round fail to feed. I bent it back and now it runs like a champ.
