Hey guys,
Just wondering why there isn't a thread on fixin' up Norinco pistols? There is TONNES of stuff on the M14s and other various Norinco firearms but no tuneing and sprucing up of the pistols....

What I have done to my NP-29 to "fix" it (better sights are the biggest improvement on the original gun, all others are cosmetic):

I'd be happy just to know where to get decent grips for my Norc Tokarev .... the left grip had a chunk out of it when it arrived and the pin fell out of the right grip the first time I fired it.

My take on your sig:
Power corrupts. Absolute power is a joy forever.

The only thing I've done to improve my 1911 is ditch the stock grips and a little poilshing to get everything working smooth.

Other than that it really doesn't need too much to be a good shooter.

P.S. How long do you think it will take before the bashers start posting?

Colt, Smolt! Everyone knows that 1911 is spelled with STI.:D

You'll note the 1911 compact in my pic above is an older version Norc commander with some mods, including walnut Colt medallion grips...

I can vouch for Terry's NP-29 as one hell of a gun for the money, even taking into account what he has invested in it. It shoots great and it looks pretty damn good too. I was pretty much bullseye-ing everything I pointed at within 15m with that gun. The combination of the heavy gun, the (minimal) trigger job, the better sights, and the 9mm cartridge is just superb. When the hell is Marstar going to get more of these NP-29s?? Now, I'm thinking of buying an NP-28 (double stack 9mm) just cuz that's all they have.

What is the verdict NP-28? Do standard 1911 parts not fit or something?? Seems like everyone wants the NP-29 (for 9mm) but nobody wants a 28.

One other point, yah, obviously you can go buy a super nice 1911 that will put anything Norinco makes to shame, but then there is no fun in working on it. Quite the reverse, most people won't screw around with their Colt, Kimber, STI (etc) too much - not wanting to wreck it. Whereas with a Norinco.... its a $300-400 dollar gun. Go nuts. try stuff. If it doesn't work out, so what. Most of us spend more than that on ammo in a month. I think that's the beauty of these Norinco guns.

I asked Marstar, they told me they were getting more of NP-29s in March. As I know, if you bought the NP-28, you'd have to buy the Norinco magazines. Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong.

I think with right amount of parts the Norinco 1911 can be made to shoot on par with $1200-$1500 1911's.

I have a stripped frame/slide that will have all Ed Brown, Wilson Combat guts :)

Ghostie,

Don't buy the hi-cap Norinco 1911. Be patient and wait for the NP-29.

+ 1

The NP-29 is well worth the wait... ;)

And on Norinco 1911 mods... here is an NP-29 I recently 'reasonably' picked up on the EE... has some nice mods..
