Fixing a plastic part on an old shotgun

I just fixed a plastic part on an older car which was broken in half and also had cracks. I used clear epoxy glue from the dollar store (clean with acetone) and just held the piece together for at least 10 minutes and had my partner put duct tape on the back which I cut to size before hand. Then I slowly filled the voids with car putty and sanded in between. You have to let the piece sit for a day or 2 in between. At the end paint it with matching colour. It is a longish process. Sandpaper would be 440 grid, no more, no less. No wet sanding.

I use the G/flex 650 epoxy for most plastic repairs. Bonds to almost every plastic I've used and stupidly strong. Down side is it's expensive and comes in larger packages.

Expensive. I wonder how it compares to the cheap $4 clear epoxy from dollarama. I like that expoy, it is really clear and it says 5 minutes but it starts setting at 5 minutes - which is good, you don't want it to set too quickly. I apply with Q-tips or some art brush (also dollar store, lol). Wipe off excess with acetone, that stuff gets super hard too. I had disappointing experiences with JB weld - useless, and youtubers confirm it. I prefer clear epoxy which can be sanded easily.
