So I've got half a dozen Norinco mags, all bought at different times at different places. They all jam to one extent or another. One FTF's every round, another only does the last round, and all the rest are somewhere in between. For a while I thought it was my gun, but then tried a buddies USGI mag, and it worked flawlessly half a dozen times so I'm convinced its my mags.

I'm poor, bottom line, so I don't want to ditch the 6 mags I paid for if I can avoid it, nor do I want to pay exorbitant prices (although I notice they are going down) prices for USGI or SA mags.

Does anyone have any suggestions to fix my mags? Is this a common problem with the Norinco mags?

If they are "newer" rivetted mags I've noticed and heard from a lot of guys having issues with the rivets impeding "full" insertion of the mag. It locks in, but not like it should.
Causes problems feeding.
Could be the problem... But maybe not

They are rivetted. I haven't thought to try them in another gun. I guess I'll try that next time. The same mag always seems to jam on the same rounds so my thinking is it's the mags not the gun. It happens with cheapo ammo and higher end brass cased stuff as well.

you could maybe try just filing down the face of the rivet a little to reduce the amount it can interfere. Could just be a seating issue like Thomas said

I'll try them in another gun before I start messing with them. If they do the same thing, I'll file it down. If not... I guess something is wrong with my gun.

I would, not sure about everyone else on here. I'd rather keep them and buy good mags when I have the money.

If it is the mags, what can I do to fix them. do they need a squirt of lube somewhere? Does dirt get into them somewhere? They've all be dropped multiple times, but the worst mag has been the same since I bought it. Do I need to re-rivet them or replace followers or springs?

I have a norinco 305 and it has never had a mag hang up,I noticed you are from the fraser valley,I am in chilliwack if you want to meet we can try them in my rifle and try mine in your rifle.let me know

I have several Norc m14 mags and they all run flawlessly. One has a baseplate that won't quite seat properly under the metal lip on the mag making the tab on the other end not seat either, but it still feeds fine.

I just bought a new 5/20 round norinco mag and it won't seat in my rifle, nor will it feed properly. Maybe it has something to do with it being rivited on the right side. All the 5/20 mags I've seen before this one have been rivited at the back. It's strange because the 5 round mag that came with it works fine.

I'm starting to think that the m14 stuff coming from china the last year and a bit is getting to the bottom of the barrel scrapings LOL some real constant... I'm having issues with my norc lately. And not the common fodder like rear sights, flash hiders and out of index pipes. These days it's mags, gas cylinders, bolts LOL
Looks like the 2009 and older standard length norcs are the only ones I'll be buying in the future

Oh... By the way... Dlask arms has genuine CMI usgi equivalent, pinned 5/20 round mags. These babies are sweet and worth every penny ;)
