fixing the front sight on a norc backpacker

I bought a norc backpacker for myself for christmas. now I need to narrow the front sight. Can anyone suggest a new width for this. I only want to stick it in the mill once if possible. thanks in advance for your help.

Maybe you should mill a dovetail so you can use standard 3/8 inch dovetail sights? A mill seems like overkill for thinning out a front sight blade but I don't have a mill so I'm stuck with files....

I just filed it down till it was the same width as a 1" Bullseye at 25yds.
Works great with the Williams peep I put on it.

In truth the mill is overkill but the convenience of it makes me unlikely to use files simply because with a mill it is a five minute job, one pass on each side. Thay being said the dovetail sounds like a good way to go too. Thanks for the input.
