Was wondering how I should get my AR to shoot the most ridiculous flame. Going to be building it from scratch. I’m thinking 7inch barrel. What muzzle device should I use ? What other factors will make it shoot a bigger flame? More input would be appreciated, thanks in advance. Will definitely keep you guys updated if I ended up building one up. :)

7.62x39 with 7.5" barrel

I'm not so sure that different muzzle devices would have much effect other than how they direct it.

I've seen some crazy fire balls from a guy shooing a Ferfran CRD. I don't think I've ever seen fireballs like that from any other muzzle device. I would think the Flaming Pig would be up there... hence the name.

If you want the fireballs that you experienced shooting my rifle the other day, you need a 7" barrel that can shoot 5.56

That is all you need I have 3 different 7" AR's that shoot 5.56 and they all shoot flames like the one you tried the other day. I have different combinations of 7" barrels and muzzle brakes/blast shields on them, but they all spit out comparable flames shooting 5.56 for flames brakes seem to work best

Most people that have a 7" don't shoot 5.56 they shoot .223 and you just are not going to get the flames with the lower pressure .223 rounds, and they wonder why they don't get the flames

I have one it is a pretty good device, it helps direct the blast forward which is nice, because I shot one with a brake and no blast shield the other day and it burnt my arm from the blast coming backwards

Short barrel, no muzzle device, and ammo with heavy projectiles (slower powders).
Muzzle device doesn't make much difference other than the pattern of the flame.

5.56/223, I haven't noticed much difference, the pressures aren't much different.

If you're a reloader pick a heavy projectile and some slower powder so it's still burning when the projectile leaves the muzzle.

I had a 6.5 inch stainless barrel I put in one of my AR's, actually shot pretty decently (2 moa with 77gr match ammo), and threw huge fireballs.
I got tired of the concussion blast from the short barrel even with a linear comp on it so I sold it. I don't have any interest in AR's with less than 12 inch barrels any more (12 and 14.5 inch barrels are my favorites).

All you need is a short barrel (7.5"), decent brake, and most importantly the right ammo. Norinco white box is ok, but if you really want fireballs use Federal American Eagle MSR. I comes in a small green plastic container. Here are some fireballs out of my shorty with a Hera Arms compensator.

I built this for $hits and giggles, 10.5" with the Daniel Defence Muzzle Climb Mitigator, and Norc ammo helps if you can find it.

Yes, loved your guns, definitely gotta do it again. I got an 7inch 5.56 with a flaming pig now, just putting it together now. I will see you at the range
