flash hider?

hi everybody i own a savage mark 2-f and i would like to get flash hider for it. my problem is, is that i would like to make it my self i have a fully functional machine shop at my disposal but i would like to know if it is legal for me to make one. im also not sure if it would help much but i think it would look really cool i have some cool ideas for one. just wondering on everybodys thoughts out there. so lets hear the good and the bad about this idea.
