flash suppesor worthwhile on a Poly Tech M14?

-looking to shorten a std. model to 18.5" do not want to add 2" for a flash suppresor if it is not absolutely necessary
-anyone seen articles on the web showing the difference with different ammo? or have experience with this?
-if I go without a suppresor anyone with info. on which suitable powder would have the least flash?

There is a company called dlask arms that can fix you up they have a gas lock front sight mount so the sight can be relocated also they will cut down the barrel and thread it to accept modified ar15 muzzle devices

An 18.5" .308 is going to have a monumental muzzle flash with any powder. It won't make a lick of difference except during that half hour before and after dawn and dusk.
