Has anyone ever had there m14 flash suppressor break? My buddy was shooting his today when one of the (for lack of better terminology) long thin webs broke on the end closest to the sight and bent downwards. Im guessing this is probably metal fatigue combined with being hardened to much. The gun has probably at least 1500 rounds through it.

Someone had posted a pic of an M305 flash hider that they had cut length-wise and it showed that the tines and the sight base had a serious gap.

Someone else or the OP will probably post it for you , I didn't keep the pic. Mine is 10 years old and has over 3K through it with no problem so far so maybe it is only an issue with the newer batch?

That was a friend of mine BattleRife. He had quite a few rounds though his and had noticed some cracking. When viewed from the inside (after cut in half) you could see that it was welded together and some areas were not full thickness.

Uncle Chao feel a sleep @ the Q/C again. Probaly off machined flash hidder or something else relating to poor Q/C. Spamco has some US made one's on the EE that are much better. Although just to be sure check out the spline ways to see if they were machined properly too.

The m14 flash hiders do have a limited life span. The hot gasses etc coming out of the end of the barrel slowly degrade the tines over time.

I imagine that an improperly machined chinese FH would crack well before a properly machined one.

Let me know if you want me to send you one, just pay the shipping. I was given one a few months back by RugbyDave (he posts here) and I can't use it, but I can't sell it either. I can even send you the castlenut pliers if you send them back in a reasonable time.

EDIT: I ate 4 mcdonalds BLT's this morning, don't judge me.

Norinco flash suppressors are not made in one piece, rather they are two components welded together. Sometimes, the welds suck.
