Flashlight recommendations for tactical shotguns

Hi everyone.

What does everyone use for a tactical flashlight with their tactical shotguns?
Recommendations, items to stay away from?

Depends; what type of shotgun? Surefire makes a forend with a built in light for Remington 870/Mossberg 590 platforms. Stream light also makes a similar design. I personally find this better than clamping a light onto the barrel, but that’s me.

100% going with Surefire dedicated forend anytime I can.
 
Does anyone have any experience with the Streamlight? They have positive YouTube reviews and the design looks more ergonomic than the Surefire.

Not to mention it's almost 1/3 of the price.

I have one on a 590 , it does the job , it very bright, if you point it a the ceiling it'll light the whole room up , and be careful about pointing it at any kind of reflective surface, it'll blind you , lol .
And like you said for about 1/3 the price, whats not to like .
Having said that, the only con i have is it could use a kill switch, for when you case it for transport.

You should also keep a eye out for the older eotech forend lights , they're not as bright, but do have a kill switch.

Nice pics Greenhorse six. That Streamlight looks pretty decent, less bulk, looks like a really good built in handstop, comfy? I've only ever used SF, but damn are they expensive, and a lot of people are not crazy about the more bulky, current model.

Thanks, ADK , yeah it fits the hand nicely, good texturing, not to bulky, the pressure pad is not as soft as some others , which is good, as it limits accadently activating the light .
 
I got surefire dsf, I had older model for my 870. I would suggest getting streamlight; it slimmer, weight less and less bulky. DSF has quite hefty weight compare to their older model.

The only thing I don’t like streamlight are battery compartment and and LED is made in China (rumour)

Interesting. I guess China is a good guess considering it’s more than half the price of the SF. I’ve had the previous versions of the DSF, agreed.
 
I had a DSF on my 14" 590A1. Like others said it is bulky. I found it put my wrist at an awkward angle due to the bulk and never could get comfortable with it. The light itself is of course excellent. I replaced it with a Magpul forend and a Streamlight ProTac HL-X rail mount on a Surefire RM45 scout mount. Streamlights are made in China but they are proven lights at this point. I wish I could run Surefire all the time but $400 for a comparable model I just can't do. The ProTac has a nice balanced beam pattern with plenty of spill and good distance. Can definitely ID targets well outside the range of most shotguns.
