Flashlights for Work

I consider myself a minor flash light enthusiast.

I had a Pelican (Dive light) till the switch went bad, and stupidly didnt realize it would have been warranted and tossed it out.

Then had a Fenix (an older version but similair to the current LD-22) till I lost it when my car was stolen.

Currently have a SureFire G2X (or 6PX??? they are similair) and its been good to me. I like the fact that it fits inside 1" scope rings so I can attach it to a rail on my tacticool 10/22 (ready for invaders of my chicken pen)

I recently ordered a Fenix PD32, mainly for EDC. I like the strobe and other intensity settings. My SureFire is fine but has only 2 settings, I reckon it will get moved from my tool belt to my 10/22, permanently.

For a work/job site specific light I am looking at a light that offers the most intensity but uses AA batteries.

Love the CR123 units but AA's are free (or were at my old work) so prefer that option, just a thought to consider.

I have had my Fenix PD35 for three weeks now. I think that it is a great light, I use it everyday at work.
Just waiting for the rechargeable batteries that Fenix forgot send, it eats those 123s. Not as bulky as my Wolfeyes that I was using before. We will see if it can take the same Abuse.

fenix are fine for a lot of things - I have a couple and like them a lot - but if you are a pro and work on job sites in Canada where hard hats are required....you should familiarize yourself with the UK line of lights ..... also fwiw stick to AA lights, the 123 batteries will drive you nuts for cost and availability

Surefire G2 LED...will be right at your price limit or just above, but is the best on the market. you won't be disappointed, but buy batteries in bulk....the lithium batteries are very expensive at Walmart, cheaper online.

I have a Fenix TK 11 that I like a lot. High and low, on/off and momentary on. It's simple to run. Uses two CR 123 batteries. Also have a Surefire E1B with the same features but 1 CR 123. It's a lot smaller and throws a better beam. It's even easier to use as the on/off clicky controls the brightness, on/off and momentary on.

look at UK (Underwater Kinetics) ... they supply industrial lights etc that clip to a hard hat properly
used to be the standard for companies like Bell Canada etc
had an led light from them with a focusing lens that worked great...used 4 AA and was pretty compact considering. have also used fenix and they are fine but UK has a a good setup for job site helmet wearers

I hadn't heard of them, checked out their website. They have some neat designs. Decent LM's and runtimes. I really like their hi-vis yellow body options. One of their headlamps has a 65LM output for 13hrs on 3 AAA's. Wicked!

I see this model is $31 on amazon.

Fenix, 4Sevens, Sunwayman.

Can't go wrong with any of these. I have at least one of each. They're excellent

I've heard that the CR123's don't last very long with the higher output lights like the PD35 but how about the rechargeable 18650's that will fit in a Fenix PD35? Do these rechargeables stand up at all? Anyone with some experience with them?

thanks for all the help guys. I am a proud new owner of a Fenix PD35 :). Along with a flashlight mount for my rifles :).

I just ordered 6 of the same one( $12.95 each). My son bought one and brought it over to compare to my mag lights. In short it is simply amazing. It is a little bigger than a minimag but it would take at least 15 minimags to equal it. I also tried it against my 4 D cell mag light. I guestimate it would take 3-4 of them to equal it.
