This is round 3hunting in BC for me. The first two years we got skunked only seeing moose not legal to take. This year with renewed hopes, and a new area.(close to Mackenzie) I loaded up and this flat lander made the 22ish hr. trek to the mountains of BC to meet with my brother in law, his son and two other friends.
We got in late and just set the trailers and hit the hay. In the morning we set up camp cut wood and got ready to go hunting in the afternoon.
By late afternoon we had this guy down.

By the time we got it hauled back to camp it was 2am. we put the quarters in the trailer as we had not set up a hanging rack yet..

Again we didn't go out in the morning the next day as we dealt with the first bull. Building a hanging rack.

After it was hung, skinned, and wrapped we headed out for the afternoon hunt...At this point we were all pretty beat and not a whole lot of heart in the evening hunt.....But things can get your blood pumping fast and you forget how tired you are.

Getting this brute involved calling,Stalking,a close encounter with a grizzly, skillfully placed shot.....And most of all.....Bull Sh*t luck.

After a night of haulling this monster out of the swamp it was another 2am back to camp night....We were done. The next morning we slept in and dealt with monster moose...We elected not to go out for the evening hunt.

Day 4 we hunted the morning and at about 10am we had this guy down. The last of the trip.

We seen more big bulls, cows and calves but we only had immature tags left and never found one.

The motley crue.

The sky lines I got to enjoy.

The freezer packed full of de-boned moose and ready for the trek back to the flat lands.

All in all a very memorable hunting trip.

BTW.....The grizzly lived. He made a wise choice.

The fires were very heavy west of Mackenzie. Wonder if that pushed a lot of moose your way? Congratulations on an extremely successful hunt. It has been an interesting season so far for grouse this year. I am finding grouse right next to a heavy burn with smoky spots still active. They are scattered and all singles. Typically (this is my favourite spot, lots of old skid roads, so easy walking) early season there would be bunches. Going to have to spend more time studying this puzzle, probably this afternoon :)

Do you spotlight these Moose?

the big bull is a ripper, i didnt see the bits about what rifles cartridge an ammo were used in the hunt?

No we can not spot light....Only a select pedigree in Canada can hunt the "traditional" ways. The two moose we got were later in the afternoon and was dark by the time I took the pictures.
As for cartridges used.....The first moose was shot with a 7mmRem mag. twice. both bullets found in the off side hide. I congratulated him on being so progressive with using a girls gun like my daughter uses....He didn't find the comment as funny as everybody else did.

The next was shot ONCE with a 375H&H.....270gr Norma....In and out and I'm sure that bullet is still headed for the coast.

The last one was shot once with a 300Win mag. 180gr. hornady Cup and core. bullet found off side hide.

Can't wait for the Thanksgiving moose roast and moose meat balls tomorrow.

Well i thought the 7 Rem mag was a Real Mans rifle as its proberly the most common in America next to the 300 win mag.... i always thought the girls gun was the 7mm-08, which i use with pride, now i wont make comment on your daughter though.... ;)
same schit.

cheers for the reply, i always thought pics would look so much better in the Day light shortly after the moose died/found, 22 hours away must be a difference in terrrain and landscape for sure, memory kind of stuff- each to their own though as an Australian looking in, i had to ask.
