Flat tops & Fireballs

Excellent story and pics. I've never heard of Does being referred to as flat tops. We've always called them skin heads.

ONe inaccuracy- The 125 BT only made 5", not 6"

Explosive performance, and on thin skinned game should work well. But the FT Killa 45gr TSX went one inch further in wood:)

What, No pink too-too????

Here ya go................ :D

I have a nice little combination gun, 12 ga over 222. It would be dandy for eastern white tails, but the 222 twist is only 1:14. What is the twist of your rifle? My 222 will handle the Sierrra 60gr HP, which i have yet to try in a deer. Looks like that Barnes would be a better choice, if it is not too long.

What a touching story. Autum, BC, dad and son drive hundreds of kms to meet for the traditional flat top hunt. Isn't life grand?

Did the kid have his 375 Wooger in case a buck showed up?

I load 1-14" twist .222 with either 50gr Rem HP /19gr RE-7 or 24gr/Win 748/55SP and no deer has ever made it more than a couple body lengths.[200 lb WT bucks included]with double lung hits.Three black bear as well..............range kept to 150 yards max. on purpose.........DOA..................Harold

SHe was no yearling- she was the largest doe we had seen in the group of does and fawns...She is no 450 Lb big mulie buck, but she wasn't small..Just looks that way in the pics, since I can make a grizzly look small in pics!:)

I think a more accurate statement is that you make a grizzly look pretty.

(sorry just had to join in on the fun).

Great story TB

HEY! TB you took the pictures out of this excellent thread. It is one of my favourite posts and I come back and read it every year or so.
