I am looking at putting a Trijicon tritium front site on my AR-15 and of course have several questions and can't seem to find a better crowd for a good technical dicussion.

What are the pros and cons of a flat vs round top front AR sights?

The flat top Trijicon site looks to have a smaller dot, but has the same profile of what's currently in my 14.5" Sabre Defence. The other Trijicon features a .080" wide post with a .11" OD white ring, 5MOA per click but has a round top.

For primary optics I use an Eotech 551 and ACOG TA01 4x, use ARMS #40LP BUIS and am looking for an illuminated front post. I like bright trijicon dots as I am used to them on all my pistols and tac shotguns, all so far have been flat top sights.

I like the look of the big dot on the round top model of the AR sights, haven't found specs on the other flat top AR site to compare them yet. I like to keep things simple, will I have any training problems switching to a round top front AR site? I realize at night it is a non-issue, but during the day will that rounded edge reduce my accuracy, cause cross training problems or other issues I haven't considered?

Still at the stage where I am learning what works and what does for me with the AR platform, front sights have been a thorn in my side......

Looking forward to all the valuable input from the knowledge base out there!
