Flat wire recoil springs for 1911

Has any one tried the Flatwire recoil system from Night Hawk or Wilson Combat? was it worth it how was the install any fitting needed?

I have run them on a half dozen 1911 home builds . Drop in with the right recoil rod .Love them nothing but good. My two cents

Which ones did you use ? Where did you get them any fitting needed. Are you using a full piece or 2 piece guide rod.

I used Wilson with the short rod and or the extended rod on different slides that is the only way they come as they are much smaller in diameter than the standard rod with the round spring. Got them from Wanstall and Brownell They have a softer feel when racking the slide and the recoil cycle is softer and they drop in. They are a excellent mod IMHO

My Sig came with one and would occasionally fail to chamber.
Since I couldn't find a stiffer spring I switched to a regular style spring(stiffer) and guide rod.
problem solved

Do you need a guide rod to run a flat spring in a 1911 ?

I put a Wilson Combat flat wire spring and full length guide rod in my old Colt. Slide feels a little smoother, but that might just be placebo effect. I mainly put it in to lengthen the replacement intervals.

The flat wire spring in Sig 1911 pistols has a different inside diameter and the guide rod is sized to fit it.
