Hi all,

I would like to find a couple flex hone brushes to polish the chambers of my coach gun.

I figured some of you guys doing CAS may know where I could find some here in Canada. Or, if someone is in the Calgary area help me actually do the honing.

If anyone has any ideas..... please post.... or PM if you like.

Thanks

Maybe the ones sold in automotive stores for honing brake cylinders would do? I've never tried it and don't know if it's a good idea but just a thought.

I was under the assumption that polishing it up would help the shells fall out easier during a reload? Basically a good high quality race gun would have that professionally done no?

Sounds like a good idea to me, but what do I know? If it works I'd give it a try myself because my shotgun has trouble ejecting cheap ammo.

not sure if this would achieve the same result, but maybe chuck a bore mop in a drill, load it up with polishing compound and give'r??

would the honing stones you are thinking of remove too much material? or at least run the risk of doing so?

uneducated guesses on my part.

Dont use brake hones, a slight error on depth will score your cyl. They pivot in the middle and if the front hits your forcing cone the back will score your chamber.
Many machine shops use flexhone hones. Make sure you get the proper size and grit.
or... just order one from Brownells. The hard part is the flexhone oil (dangerous goods). You might be able to get a small amount from a machine shop or engine rebuilder.

Brownell's sells a 12 gauge chamber hone. It worked fine on my Stoeger. You have to use a fair amount of oil to keep it clean and polishing.
