Hey guys. A friend of mine was helping to sort out the possesions of a deceassed family member and they found a rifle. they called me and i went and took a look at it. I found the rifle new online but cant find a used value for it in canada. It is a Thopmson Center Hawken™ Flint Lock Rifle, .50 Cal. They have asked me to see if i can find any values for it. Thanks for the help fellas

Hi. Those attics hide all kinds of stuff. Where you are matters too.
We need a bit more info, starting with its condition. The condition of the flint itself doesn't matter much, but the condition of the frizzen does. That what the flint hits to create the spark.
Epp's is asking $919.79 for a new one. You may want to give them a call.

Just a note having seen this sort of thing happen before. Assume its loaded! Not always easy to tell with a flintlock you find in the attic...

fwiw, I had one of those at one time and the frizen was only case hardened and after a while it wore thru and would not spark. Just for information's sake.

its not that old and theres a easy way to find out if its loaded the ram rod will almost fit right in side the barrel when its not loaded if its loaded it willl stick up a bit more then when its empty

Holy ####!!! I never thought of the damn thing being loaded. I'll get over there and check it. Thanks for the info folks. Looks to be in about average condition. Looks to be in good shape except for some light surface rust that I wiped off with a rag.
