Flintlock Pistol--Antique or Fake

Well. I took the old girl apart again today looking for anything I could find. I did find one mark. On the backside of the brass side plate on the left side. There is a letter R . May mean something, I don't know. Also found the initials DK in the wood above this side plate. Very, very small but neat. Other than the few markings mentioned earlier, that is it.
Google searches show a striking resemblance to the India Pattern Brown Bess and a Belgian Cavalry Pistol.
 
An unmarked lock on a 3rd Pattern Bess often was seen on Colonial muskets, and with a factory proof stamped barrel. You have an antique flintlock, possibly a private purchase used by Colonials in Canada or America. Lots of little clues will tell you more.
