Flintlock question

I have been thinking about buying a flintlock rifle, my question is can you use fffg in the gun and in the pan? That would save alot of hassle for me, thanks.

Yes you can use FFFG in the rifle and the pan. That is all I have used so far, so I can't say if FFFFg is any better for priming or not, but FFF works just fine.

3F may be just fine for the main charge, depending on the caliber. In large bore guns, 3F can produce somewhat higher pressures than 2F or 1F

I've been wondering the same thing, I have my eye on a Lyman Deerstalker Flintlock in 50 cal from Lebaron.

Yes FFFG will work, the advantage of FFFFG is quicker ingnition. I have used FFG on my Brown Bess for priming during reenatments for years, but bigger pan and larger flint than a 50 .

The 3f/3f combo works in .50. I have used it!
Don't rule out the pan-primer though,for an easy 4f/2f combo.(they aren't any larger than most necklaces)
