Any recommendations on flip caps for scopes? Quality and robustness preferred. I don’t wish to break the bank either.

I have BC on pretty much all my scopes , no complaints, they work. I did have one where the red button lever snapped and I had to replace the cap. Likely just a one time defect/fluke as I have never had an issue with any others.

I’ve had the Butler Creek ones they work but sizing can be an issue cause they are slightly generic. Some tighter than others but never had a loose one.

A set of rebranded ones came with my Burris most recently. They are the best option price wise for sure!

tenebraex makes a good unit and then leupold has the alumina.

Easy button is butler creek.

I have old butlercreek that are 30 yrs old. The new ones are junk imo. Vortex defenders are much better and I have found them to be very durable. I have switched to Taenebrex which are expensive but worth every penny. Plus they’re Canadian. The Leupold Alumina are very nice but very expensive and on heavier recoiling guns I’ve had the cover move to be parallel with the barrel and sting my eyebrow. Not pleasant

They can move on heavy recoiling rifles. On those I fold the eye piece all the way forward (flat on top of the scope). This prevents that completely but when I haven’t it isn’t great.

Flip up caps are sure a wise choice. Nothing like getting an objective full of snow or rain. I just put a set on a scope, and the objective was just a touch too loose, so I wrapped a few turns of black electical tape over the objective bell first, then the cap slid on nice and tight.

If going butler creek, be sure and buy several sets.. you're going to need them. I've had them fall apart just from recoil.. they are utter junk, imo.

Alumina if you have a leupold (or if they fit your non-leupold scope)
Taenebrex & Vortex would be my next option.

Over the years I've used a few different scope covers, incl Butler Creek, but when I purchased my first Alumina scope covers, when they first came out, I was sold. They fit tight to the scope, neat and tidy, and slip in and out of the rifle case without catching or snagging. Whether truck hunting, on the atv or just walking they open quick and easy even wearing gloves. To me they're perfect and yes they are expensive but once you've bought them and begin using them you soon get over the cost.

For all the leupolds the best are the alumin covers. No other option IMO.

Teneabreax for the rest, if they make them. Not all scope models covers. If you research a bit, you can find covers by diameter that should fit scopes not listed. A bit time consuming, but works.

The only other option worth mentioning that works are the 3D printed ones. Guy on gu n po st makes and sells them. I have 2 sets. They are okay, work well, snap open and closed well. Great magnets. Just give a bit more of a tunnel vision when using them, but better than nothing.

The butler creek I quit using years back, as they just plain suck. The vortex ones are okay, but who wants to have the Vtx symbol on a different brand of scope anyways. Looked cheesy on my NF before I went tenabreax covers for it.

I have owned B/C flip caps for years and have yet to have any fall apart.
Of course your mileage is different than mine.
But, to suggest buying several sets is good advice.
You can likely buy five sets for the price of one set of aluma flip caps ...enough for four other rifle/scope set ups.
A great pro tip.
