Flip-Flop recoil pad

Surprised that everyone on here hasn't at least given one a try. Fifty cents instead of fifty dollars, and absorbs recoil on a rifle, the same way they absorb Big Bill and Somethin' Susie's pounding across the Wallmart parking lot. :)

I have them now on everything from a 22 to 270, 30-06, 8X57, 300 Win Mag, 338 Win, and on to a lightweight 9.3X62. They work, and weigh four to five ounces less than the spendy ones.

Mine are all black. cou:

My test run at making one turned into a gooey mess when the glue wouldn't harden so it was back to the Pachmayer for me.
More money maybe but less hassle...

Here is one for the hunter/fisher:

You need to get some orange ones so you can make a pad for the flamer......

I think it's a heck of a concept:cool:. I don't have :p CD's colour choice available as a possiblle option, but, along with the IKEA 'Mewsie' here's a couple for 'Lookys' consideration.

A set of standard thickness, part of a Bud promotion. And, good for some of the 'Lookys' heavier artillery,;) a set of Magnum class Laugh2.

How do they handle sitting in a safe? Do they compress on the heel?

I'm tempted to build another ultralight - just to try one of these pads. Problem is I don't need another ultralight, I just enjoy a fun project....

Several times. The ugly 9.3 had a double flip-flop before it was shortened for the young lady's 6.5X55.

1. What did you use to glue the two pcs of rubber together?

2. Any different method to glue onto wood?

We use a heavy foam rubber for fixing vacuum boxes at work and have lots of scrap pcs laying around that could be used for this application. Most is 1" thick.

You can also cut pieces out of those interlocking foam pads which are sold for use on floors. Fifteen bucks buys a lifetime supply of pads. Various colours available though I doubt many people want pink, yellow, or blue. Glue them on with Shoe Goo. This would be especially appropriate if using a flip flop.

Of course! Why didn't I think of that?

Great idea,
Ted
