Kevan, the adhesive need to be able to cure in the absence of air. I have used several different epoxies, and contact cements successfully. Have lately settled on water-based contact cement, as it can be used inside without special ventilation, and it bonds like concrete. Have tried pulling one off, and the pad ripped while the bond held.

We use a heavy foam rubber for fixing vacuum boxes at work and have lots of scrap pcs laying around that could be used for this application. Most is 1" thick.

It is important to be sure the contact cement is perfectly dry on both pieces to be glued before pressing them together. You can easily test it by touching a piece of dry paper to it. If it comes away dry it is ready.

Yep! Both work, but the water based stuff is instant, and does not require any parachute cord. :dancingbanana:

That would be the icing on the cake for the 375 Outrageous, but I can't find any orange ones here.

I have some that have been sitting in the safe for months, and are just slightly compressed. The cheaper ones actually are better than the expensive ones, as they are a bit firmer.

Am about to start another lightweight 7X57 build on a small ring Mauser. It will definitely have a flip-flop pad, as that will save four ounces of weight right there.

They're suppose to be flip flawps.
Maybe glue only arff the pad to the stock.
That way yewl maintain the original sound.
Let the pad flawp to yer shoulder?
 
Think I will try flip flop pad on the stock I just refinished with tung oil. Maybe someting in silver to match my hunting shoes. Moosey approved pending, he just shook his head at my shoes.
