i made a post a while back regarding some butler creek flip open lens covers i wanted to buy. well i bought some. my scope is a 40mm bushnell and i figured they would fit. i was wrong. the rear cover fits great. the front is too small. when i rest the cap on top of the scope its smaller than the optic. i cant shove it on but i thought about using a heatgun to help it grow a little. after all it doesnt fit anyway so its useless to me. what are your thoughts on that?

also the listing was for a 40mm scope, said the caps ID is like 47mm. i should have measure but the OD is like 53mm. enough to cause a headache and not let it slide on even with some persuasion. the 50 mm covers ID is like 57 mm so that would be too big. option 2 is to take that and use some electrical tape to create a tight seal. so now i have a nice push button flip open rear cap and nothing for the front. what do you guys think?

Some people will put them in boiling water to soften them to get them on. Depends on how much bigger they need to be.

good call with that, probably better than using a heat gun. ill boil some water before the wife gets home, dont need her asking questions. :D

thanks

My scope seemed to be right on the line. I tried the smaller one and it appeared to deform quite a bit. I didn't like the way it fit. The next size up was not as snug as I liked it to be (tried tape - no dice) but it looked better and worked properly.
