So I am looking to get some other sights for my AR M4gery besides my carry handle. I plan on getting used to shooting with Irons then I will get an EoTech later. However I am trying to decide if I should go with something like the ARMS #40L or a Troy FlipUp or get something like the LMT fixed BUIS or something of that nature.

This is going to be going on my 14.5 AR, and I plan on keeping my FSP on my gun and putting a 7" rail on it, eventually. I might get a flip up front sight gas block, but I don't really know.

My other plan of thinking is to get a 10" rail or something with a low profile gas block and put a flip-up on the top and have a total flipup system. I do kind of enjoy the FSP on the 14.5 carbines however.

As I sit around looking at pictures on the ARFCOM forums I see a flipup and I like it I see a fixed and I change my mind. I am not sure what kind of co-witness I want.

What is your preference?

Depends what you are using it for. I have an Olympic 11.5 in for competition with an Eotech on it and I find that with fixed irons it takes me longer to aquire the sight. And in competition the worst that can happen is that you blow a stage. As for zombies, still undecided.:D

Well, if it's an M4gery, get what the military uses on their M4's - a Matech BUIS.
Here's my M4gery, waiting on a lower:

Unless I'm running a magnified optic I prefer a fixed front sight. Less to go wrong. For flipup front I like to run a Troy backwards overhanging the front of my rail so it's easy to grab.

Stick with the fixed front sight, even with optics, you won't notice it and it'll be there when you need it. Not to mention the fact that your gun won't crap out when you accidentally hit your gas block against something, or the fact that you'll spend a ton of money just for looks, with no improvement in function whatsoever.

As for the rear, I'd say it depends on what kind of optic you'll be using. If you're using some kind of red dot than go for a fixed one like Larue, or a cut down carry handle. Some people like the sight a little higher up in this config so that the dot sits slightly above the sights, commonly referred to as a lower third co-witness, that'll be up to you, and you know know until you have it set up. If you plan on using a scope than a folding sight is mandatory. Lots of different kinds out there, just make sure that it'll be low enough to sit under the scope.

Depends.
Currently no - however I have done so -- and will likley to do it again.
Given the choice I'd put KAC flip front sight gas blocks on 99% of my rifles - but they dont really like to let them out - and I only have three of those on mine -- and 1 has been permamently donated to the GWOT

Nope,
at 1x its not a big deal as you have both eyes open anyway and only really see the dot.
at 4x its ghosted out.

I run a 1.93 Larue mount due to 1) I like to clear a PEQ-2 2) Even if I dont need to clear the laz, the added height make shooting dynamically easier - as you head is up higher.

Both fixed. With the large aperature(.161) up I can clearly see my EOtech with no issues. Forcing myself to co-witness for every shot only aids in my ability to rapidly operate the iron sights alone. With the EOtech turned off I still establish a near identicle cheek weld and sight picture.
