i've used flitz in the past. it works but can be a real mess on little crevices and seams. if you have not tried never-dull, you should take a look at it, easy and works surprisingly well for a polish. its basically a cotton baton soaked with polishing compounds and comes in a tin. canadian tire or home hardware should have it.
Flitz, Autosol and Simichrome are all good polishes and get pretty much the same outcome. I have autosol and simichrome and use them regularly on my knives.
Check places like NAPA, etc for autosol. I'd bet you could find it in Cdn tire
What type of metal will you be polishing? I've used Mother's Mag and Aluminum polish on my stainless S&W Model 686 with good results--it's available at Canadian Tire.
