Has anyone heard of or had this done to thier action. I was at the range the other day and this guy had two rifles that had the actions free floating. It was almost like he never tightened his screws. When i asked him about it he said it's a free floating action. Both rifles where stock remingtons. However he was shooting rag holes at 200 yards.

I see how that would work but this guy at the range did not have any of what was shown on the videos. All he had was a stock rem. rifle and to me it looked like he installed longer screw so the action and barrel would lift off of the stock about an inch or so every time he shot.

sounds pretty haphazard.
i would probably be sitting a couple of benches away from him

only a matter of time until the stock splits right down the wrist, makes me think he hit the target once and it looked like a wicked 3 shot group

Floating actions is old news, I first heard of it in the early 70's and did a few... screws were not used, the action and most of the barrel were floating... about 4 inches of the barrel immediately in front of the action was glued in the stock.
