Perry has never seen a successful coyote hunt so Perry and I headed to a place this morning for a set or two and one of the fastest hunts ever. Got the fury on with a Cottontail distress on 26 and I grabbed my gloves out of my pocket and put them on and out runs a yote right at the caller. I wolfed him 3 times and he would not come off lock and made it to the caller. 2 feet he knew the gig was up. 30 seconds after the call started and he was out and running.

This was the first time Perry has seen a varmit hunt unfold :D

The setup was to the right on the fence line at the first tall tree and the yote came out of the woods at the end of the field.

Nice work, and a great trophy photo.

Can't believe I'm saying this, but looking at those nice empty snow-free fields makes me almost kinda sorta miss Ontario.:yingyang:

... looking at those nice empty snow-free fields ....

They weren't so snow-free until just a few days ago. A mild spell & a lot of rain knocked
back a ton of snow. Just over a week ago, there eas at least a foot of the stuff covering
everything here. Bare to very little now except in the fencerows !

Good job guys and nice coyote! BTW, are there alot of coyote's in where you live or in Ontario generally?

The population has been on the rise in the last 3-4 years and the deer have dropped. I dont believe we have the number that the west has, but the wooded areas make it a little easier to get setup closer, in my view...

That's why I asked if there are many in Ontario. Here where I live, and many other places in Alberta and Saskatchewan we are over run with them. On any given day (early morning and evening) I could spot at least 15 to 20 of them in a five square mile area, and I mean at least. I should purchase a nice little CZ in a 223 and try to kill some of these deer killers................next year.

To start Thanks guys,

Track I would be lucky to see 20 in a whole winter. The population is it that high but it sure sounds like it would be fun there..
