Of those people that do fly in hunts,do you prefer to do 1 or 2 fly in trips a year, or do no fly in hunts and be able to hunt every weekend or so?
It seems with so many atv's out there getting away from the crowd is getting more difficult and fly in trips are starting to look more appealing

Fly in trips are great fun. It is an experience everyone should have at least once in their life. If you get two or three people together it is not that expensive. The last place we flew to was $800 and there was three of us. $300 per person including tip, I think that is quite reasonable, and no reason to keep from going out on the weekend too.

i have never done this befor i think it would be pritty sweet deal how hard is it to find some one to do this for ya?????
talk to ya all later

Depends on where you want to go. I've flown out of Yellowknife and Dease Lake. There are several charter operations along the Alaska Hwy. One or two by Muncho Lake, one by Swift River and more that I don't know about. I think there are two fellows out of Dease Lake. I flew with Bruce McNaughton, he is a very good pilot and a straight up guy. He has a DHC-2 Beaver, so three guys and reasonable gear are doable.

When I was 17 I went to the barrens with my dad, my brother and a friend of my dad's for my first real hunt. We flew out of Yellowknife to near Grizzle Bear Lake. We spent a week out there and I have to say that it was the best hunt of my life. the fact that I got to take a week off school didn't hurt either. I think when it was all said and done the hunt cost around $1200 including food and everything else. For four guys you can't complain. Of course, the Old Man footed the bill for three of us, but what's $900 for a week on the land hunting with your kids on their first real big game hunt?

No guides if your a resident, You just choose a lake and have an air charter drop you off and pick up in 10 days-2 weeks. With so many remote lakes in the Yukon, chances are you will be alone for as long as you want. Sounds almost perfect..
