Hi

I own a Classic Green in 1 in 7 twist.

I shoot 5 shot groups at 100Y off a sand bag. I either get a great 4 shot grouping (point of aim) with 1 flyer or an amazing 3 shot clover leaf (point of aim) with 2 flyers that also grouped. The flyers always go to the same spot to the point of aim, 1 to 1.5 inches to the right in perfect horizontal.

Does it with 77grn Matchkings, SS109, GP90, and 65grn Sierra SBT GameKings.

Way to consistant to be an occasional fluke. Any ideas?

Shoot slower. Your barrel may be heating up, and than you may get a bit of barrel whip which will contribute to fliers.

Take two shots, wait till the barrel cools, take 1 more, cool barrel, etc.

I don't know if your using irons or not, but a scope would also help alot.

Sticker, I should be so lucky to do as good as you're doing. I'm jealous.

The way I shoot, I usually judge my day at the range by the size of my pile of casings.

small pile- nice day
medium pile-happy day
large pile-happier day

I literally just got back from shooting beer bottles at 300m with my Sig. I found that I do notice an inconsistancy when I shoot at a more rapid rate. When I let the barrel cool a few seconds (10-15) it shoots a lot tighter. usually a split group like you're discribing is caused by a shift in the firing position. Could be just more practice. ;)

2 flyers also grouped points to a position change by the shooter.

Nothing mystical, just (very) basic info from rifle coach Lvl. 1.

HeadDamage had the correct assessment.
