So I really like the form of this pistol, but the light strikes were killing me. Half a mag easily failed to fire.
Well, I appear to (with the help of a couple of other shooters at my club) have discovered the source of the problem. It seems like whenever the round failed to fire, the slide was back just a hair. That tiny bit "out of battery" was preventing the striker from hitting the primer with enough force to ignite it. I started to give the slide a little nudge after each round and voila the round fired every time.
So, now the gun is running wet and I have been working the slide (not in the usual way
) and I am hoping the issue will be resolved.
Anyway, if anyone is running into similar issues, look into this.
PS - The trigger is still crap, but I have noticed that by working a crappy trigger it has really improved my consistency with better hardware. When I pick up my G17, I rock that thing.
