Ahh ok thanks. I bought a FN 49 egyptian contract last fall and also had 2 pieces firing pin but the spring was broken so i got a new firing pin kit. The new spring is pretty stiff so its unlikely that a slam fire occur now.SVT1940 - it was quite a few years ago, but I definitely remember it having a two piece firing pin. I would have to say it was my FN-49. The only other surplus self-loader I had was a German G43. The rest were bolt actions.
Anyone have any idea where the best place to get a new top cover/receiver cover for an 8mm Egyptian SAFN-49?
Do any of the Parts companies still ship to Canada?
Numrich in the U.S. has a range of parts for the FN-49 and will ship to Canada. (looks like no 8mm receiver covers though). I just received a bunch of items from them, including both pieces of a two-piece firing pin. Less than a week to Calgary from their warehouse.
Notably, the rear fp I received from them does have the FPSS notch in it, even though the site says they're sold out of that version.
One piece of advice...build a big order from them, as they tack on a $25 international shipping fee. Amortized over a bunch of parts it doesn't hurt as much. Note as well, though, that your order must total less than $200 to avoid triggering an export permit requirement.

The reason I brought them up, is that I am smug about being the owner of a Hakim, a rifle that almost nobody in this MTV and COD MW generation has even heard of.
Workmanship aside, they are right beside the FN 49 in my books as an example of old-style battle rifle craftsmanship and design, and just as worthy of respect.
Could buy an SKS, nobody outside of the firearms community knows what they are. Underpotrayed in both video games and movies.
