Hello all, I have a chance to buy a fn-49 in 30.06. The rifle looks like it was never cleaned and lots of the blueing is wore also receiver has trace amounts of rust. I looked down the barrel and even though very dirty I could see very definitive rifling. What do you think this gun is worth in this condition? Roughly...

I don't have the gun to take pic's I'm just looking for a ball park value. Are these guns worth collecting? There doesn't seem to be many around. Anybody with knowledge of this platform please chime in... Thx

FN49's in Canada tend to go for about $250 more then a similar condition M1 Garand.

I have wanted to add a second one to my collection, but the cost is a little steep for me at the moment.

Well I picked it up it's actually nicer than I thought.all matching except the stock which could be original there's no number on it. Missing front stock cap, sliding dust cover and rear trigger guard bolt which I ordered from the states already. I think it's from the first Belgian military order because its serial is 23###. All in all I am extremely happy I picked it up, I'll try posting pics when I get home this weekend. Can't figure out how to with the iPhone.

Haha, the way the guy was fumbling the gun around I just wanted to get it away from him I much prefer to do the cleaning myself that way I know it won't be damaged further .

Congrats on your purchase my friend. I received my 8mm Egyption in the mail roughly two hours ago and cant put it down. These are sweet rifles and at the price you got it for...... good deal. Have fun!!!

Congrats on the new purchase, make sure that the 2 piece firing pin mod has been done, they have a tendency to slam fire without it. If you need a 2 piece firing pin drop me a PM and we'll fix you up. Again congrats
