FN 49 magazine in 7mm Mauser

FN 49 Mags
The 7mm FN 49 is the only one I haven't owned. I had a 30-06 model in Excellent to Mint condition and sold it to a gentleman in Toronto.
The mags aren't removable like other FNs. The magazine is just a box and the feed lips are milled out of the lower receiver.
I did read an article that one country using the FN 49, converted some of them to take the larger 20 round mags like the BAR. They may have converted them to 7.62 X 51 and used an FN or M-14 mags. I will try to find the information to confirm.

Does yours have removable magazines? Mine didn't. If mine had been a 30-06 I would never have sold it. Anyone know any reasonable sources for the 7X57 ammo, hunting and hard ball?
The 8mm mag housing will work - and the SAFN with removable mag is the last of the imports, being modified for the 7.62 NATO round for the Argentina Navy in the mid 60's (less than 2000) ... and none imported into Canada. The 20 round steel magazines are proprietary but were made to share the magazine loading charger with the FN FAL rifle used by the Argentine Army.
