Where might I purchase a "no drill" scope mount for an FN 49 rifle. I have seen references to "Echo" scope mounts but I can't locate anything about them. I do not want the mount which attaches to the bolt cover. Dave

The "Echo" mounts and rings were designed to work with special mounting bases designed specifically for the FN-49. The bases ran into a dovetail cut into the left side of the receiver of SOME of the FN-49 rifles. So the Echo mounts alone won't help you.

You can find Echo mounts out there, but they tend to be small-knob commercial vs. the large-knob military type. Even so, original scope bases are pretty much unobtainable unless you're really, really, lucky, and repros have dried up as well.

A more likely option for you, though not as elegant, is to find an S&K mount for the FN49. These replace the factory receiver cover. Or is that the one you mention that you're not interested in?

If you haven't yet, pick up a copy of Wayne Johnson's book about the FN-49. It's a great book full of info about the FN-49, including the sniper variants. It's almost out of print.
