Lots of interest in FN sniper stuff lately. See a great C1 kit for sale here on CGN for $2400.

Has any body seen a sniper cover mount for the FN C1 A1 for the PVS 502 night vision scope? It's NSN 5855 - 21 - 871 - 4140. When I first asked a few folks about this I was told there's no such thing then a Collector from Western Canada sent me a picture of his so it exists. Then I found that CWM ( Canadian War museum) has the complete set - cover, PVS 502 and the case - on their website - what a rare item! Has anybody seen one for sale? What would one expect to pay for the dust cover mount - I have the PVS 502. I've post this ? on milsurps.com as well. Let you know the feedback I receive. Ron

I have the full set in the gunroom. Back in the day, when they were selling them off at the local auction house, I took tha afternoon off work and bought a total of 18 night scopes....6 of the TVS501, 6 of the TVS502, and 6 of the PVS502. There were a lot of unhappy bidders at the auction. At the end of each bid on each type of scope, the auctioneer would ask me how many I wanted. "I'll take them all" was my response after each. He even tossed in a milk crate of various adapters, and the pile of tripods.
I used to have an adapter that took the TVS 501 scope onto the FNC1A1. The 501 had a side mounted rail, and typically was used on the Carl G and the C3 rifle. The C1A1 cover had the rail on the side, which must have made for a very lop sided weapo.

The majority of the scopes here in Manitoba were bought up by the Hutterites for some reason. Predator control? Someone suggested they were getting tired of just eating Pork, so wanted to do a little discreet hunting to supplement their diet.

"right place - right time" and you get the deals. I've seen the TVS 502 - used a spotting scope and maybe on the 50 cal - weighed 13 to 14 lbs if memory is correct. Any info on "TVR501"? Weren't these scopes used by other counties? ie Israel, USA, some NATO allies?

Was down in the gunroom just now, and noticed on the shelf of top covers that I have a spare of this mount. Must be a leftover from the auction.

There was an adapter for the large scope for the M2HB and another for the C5A1 GPMG (I still have both adapters). I used to refer to that scope as either the ice cream pail or the garbage bucket, as they were so huge.

I think I have a half dozen of the user manuals for the 501 downstairs, but not a lot of information in them. I thought those were a copy of a British scope.

Yes, these 502s, et al, were made for our CF by Varo in TX, but those bags have alice clips used in the US for their webbing. I'm wondering if they were issued up here, or just used for the photo???

I've got a "rubber" bag for mine as well. It's a bit different than this one and I've seen a couple of them, but I'm told they were made at unit level. I'll see if I'll be allowed to post it here as I'm only allowed, I think, 2 photos.

You certainly would not want to drag that metal case along to the field.
I recall there being a bag for them, but not like the one the War Museum has. Very likely the unit that had the scope substituted a similar bag, and eventually the set was returned into the supply system. It then happened to be the one sent to the museum, who wouldn't know any different. I likely have the bag somewhere, but no idea where.

I remember using them in Germany 81-82 and we did have the rubberized carry bag with the American belt clips.
the extra weird-shaped mount was for the M-14 rifle. they were an aluminum colour.

I had 2 mounts, one similar to the one in last picture, but not as high, Ca marked, the other was a solid aluminum low mount, no marking ( aftermarket)?
I had a Russian night scope jerry rigged on it . Never had the proper scope .
The cow guys liked them for coyotes during spring calving season.

I had to laugh. I was a reservist up in Petawawa on our summer exercise. I think that scope was already out of reg force service and given to the reserves. So I got it and put it on my FN along with a 30 rd curved 7.62 Bren Gun mag that I had picked up while training with the Brits. I passed some young reg force guys who asked me about the set up. I told them it was experimental. They said F**king militia get everything

If someone is able, I can send them a photo of a set of Canadian stuff with a Canadian mat tech made 502 cover. If you could then post the photo, that would be great.

Sorry to thread hijack, but I recently got my hands on a an pvs502. Do any of you guys have any digital copies of the manual for these things? Mine is working to a degree, however the reticle doesn't display, nor does the dial seem to do anything, curious if this is something that can be repaired, or whether anyone here might know how to do it.

Thanks

If the unit is turned on and functioning, possibly your reticule bulb may be burned out. I've got manuals, but just hard copies. I have done some minor repairs on the 502, disassembly, assemble, changed a couple parts, etc.
