FN C1 aka FN L1A1

An FN is only worth what one of the (now few, getting fewer of us) is willing to spend to buy it.

I paid $99 for my Ishapore 1A1

I paid $199 for my L1A1 (Brit)

I paid $400 for my L1A1 (Aussie)

I Paid $500 for my C1A1 (Canuck)

Not that I'm cheap, but it's a buyer's market, not a sellers market. If you have an FN, and you want to sell it, there's less than 10,000 people in the country (ish) that are eligible buyers for it.

I have never fired two of these rifles...

I for one am glad the FNC1 line is prohib , they are far more insidious than the M14 or even the Rem 7400.

Just another example how truly phucked our gun laws are in this country , to explain to the layman 'Canada's gun laws' you can own a black 2012 Chevrolet K1500 but not a red 2012 GMC K1500............wtf

One of the "problems" with the semi-auto FN, it can be "easily converted" to fire in full auto. That alone scares the #### out of any socialist. I'm not agreeing with the FN being prohib. Canada's gun laws are convoluted, redundant and draconian at best.

James B Julia sold a 1L series C1A1 for $17,250.00 in Oct 2010.

**FN/FAL MARKED CAL 1957 (C&R). SN 1L8940. Cal. .308. 24-1/2” bbl. Manufactured by Fabrique Nationale. Small “IS/R59in a circle)”. Left side of receiver has “RIFLE. 7.62 mm FN(C1)”. Includes magazine and web sling. Magazine fits well in the mag well and gun looks all vintage. Carrying handle is of hard plastic. Appears fully functional, firing mechanism operates smoothly when cycled by hand. Parts seem correct and orig to the gun. PROVENANCE: A. William Vallerand Collection. CONDITION: Overall finish and appearance is very fine, the receiver and bbl retaining 90%+ of its orig gray-blue finish. There are some brassing to the high points. Wood is a very nice, deep, rich brown with the slightest of handling marks throughout. Forearm shows a couple of dings and one gouge on the left side. Really a fine condition gun in sound and serviceable condition. Bbl is excellent, shiny and bright. The quality of the bluing makes this specimen extremely fine and desirable. 4-39870 JWK202 (14,000-18,000)

REVISED: 9/22/2010 ~ CORRECTION: This C 1 variation of the FAL was manufactured under license in a Canadian Arsenal factory and not by Fabrique Nationale as stated in the catalog.

- Someone should tell Mr. Julia that FN did not build his rifle - Canadian Arsenals Limited did (hence the marking 'CAL'), in Long Branch (Toronto, now) Ontario, in 1957. I sold a 1968 8L for $1200 about ten years ago or so. Of the original 74,000 C1s and 14,000 C2s I bet less than a thousand are left anywhere. If you can get it legally into the USA, big coin awaits you.

Before the crackdown in the States I sold and traded a few C1A1 spares for good coin and got a set of Hythe sights out of one deal.

Now I have enough spares for my sons to keep my FN's going for quite a while if we ever get them back to their proper classification (NR).

Is it wrong that I was in a store the other day that had some airsoft guns in it, and I enjoyed fondling the airsoft FN they had a bit??? At $210 I'm actually tempted to bring it home....just so I have an FN I can shoot.

*sigh*

I loved my mint FN C1 and now I regret selling it, but I stayed in the class. I would like to get another one in mint condition some day, I was thinking of trading something like my 7.62 Galil or 1927 Thompson for one. I found a cardboard shipping box for an FN C2 the other day along with a C7 A1 box.

yea, but that applies to ANY repeating rifle- remember, bill ruger converted a savage 99 to f/a- i'd love to see the mechanics on that- we fought a court battle to the scoc on the grounds of a gun is what it is, not the idea of what you can turn it into or the ease thereof( does that sound familiar- like maybe somebody's memorized the ruling?)
however, the rcmp still INSISTS on trying by a case by case basis, and they've been winning by virtue of the fact that the scoc ( if it gets that far) is full of LIBERAL APPOINTED JUDGES- ie BIASED- the only thing they're prohibited from doing apparently is actual parts replacement- thye're ALLOWED to take files to the sears, dremels, etc to prove their point- or change the rules in midstream- that's what happened to the t-97;

The first "Machine gun" that John Moses Browning made was based on a Lever Action rifle.

It's not wrong at all, it's our firearms laws that are f*cked!!!

The C1A1 was a heavy old b*tch, but she was as reliable as a claw hammer. I miss that rifle.

I was referring to the ease in which to make the FN operate in full auto mode. I never tried it myself but I would have liked to. See post below.
I'll show my age too. I had a rifle association FN C1A1 issued to me as a kid (less than 18yrs old, and long before the old FAC age requirements).

[/QUOTE The C1 "can" be made to fire full auto. The modification is simple, biodegradeable, and nonpermanent, but usually shared only among friends over beers. I will not repeat it on the interweb. So, yes the C2 has the S R and A option on the 'Change Lever' and the appropriate one internal part. But the C1 can fire 0 to 20 rounds, without the benefit of the extra counterbalancing weight.

well, the cigs supplied in the rat packs could also be used to make an iedof incendiary-just like the c-4 in the claymores could also be used to make a hot meal- it's all about intent

one of the b*ches i had of the fn was the problems with that stupid body cover scope mount( it shifted) and that you had to go up front to adjust for windage- the m14 was superior in that respect, on both accounts- having done both, i still prefer the '14

Hearing you all Talk about the FN C1A1 really takes me back.
I loved that weapon even thinking about cleaning the Gas plug for inspection after a long day at the range . It was strange when we changed over to the C7 it felt like we were holding a toy. Still ended up carrieng just as much weight anyways just more ammo to carry. I bought a M14 just so that I could have something slightly close to the FN but it is for sure not the same.

I just loved hearing the heavy bolt "ka chunk" ....never even hear the round...just that bolt....misty eyed here :(

When I was 15 I was issued a brand new in the box by the military rifle ass'n for target shooting. In the box was 4 mags (sealed in plastic), a sling and a grenade launcher.

I shot it fairly well when i had to, but I preferred the #4 and today prefer the M14.
