FN C1A1 With C1 Sniper Scope - Pictorial

Good find. The numbers of Prohib' Auto and Converted Auto collectors is going down every day. As their collections go back on the market, new generations of viewers like us get the chance to see their very scarce and valuable artifacts.

So, what provisions are in your will for this neat stuff?

Since they only made 305 units of this scope, I wonder what is the lowest and highest serial number in existence!

Unfortunately, my Directive states that all of my prohibs are to be deactivated and sold with their accessories on consignment with proceeds to the estate. That's assuming that the Turd doesn't go after the 12(X) along with the semi-autos....

those canisters pictured above got to be the two nicest i've seen, usually they are beat up and the owners wants a kings ransom.

im stuck with two body cover mounts with no scope and canister. bummer.

I use to have a complete FNC1A1 8L series with that scope. Sold it around 2001 for $4k to fund my wife to go to school (paid off as she now has an awesome job). It went to Milarm. Is that where it came from?

Sweet rifles Bartok and Missing Something

I think I'm going to go cry now (cause I can't have one - even if I had the bucks. Damn all Lieberals)...........

Nope. I refused to buy anything from Milarm when they were still in business under the prodigal son's inept management. I've had my 8L C1A1 since 1993...

Is this system pre and comparable to the British L1A1 DMR style FN with SUSAT optic?

Rare bird and made by Leitz too. Kind of caught me off guard actually. Great find and Milarms sucks!

Funny you should ask about comparisons with the British L2A2 Sight Unit Infantry TRILUX (SUIT) Sight for the L1A1 Rifle, as I used to own one of those as well (the later SUSAT was for the SA-80 rifle and has since been replaced by the Canadian Elcan OS4x as the standard-issue British rifle optic. But I digress.

Although they both share 4x magnification, beyond that there is little comparison between the Thales-manufactured SUIT Sight and the Canadian Leitz C1 Sniper Scope. The Canadian scope has far superior Leitz glass, akin to an Elcan optic quality-wise. The Canadian sight also has a much better Reticle pattern, without the horribly distracting and target-masking Top-Down Pointer of the TRILUX sight. Next of note is the ranging capability of both optics. The Canadian C1 Sniper Scope has the excellent 100m to 1000m Scale in 100m increments for the handy twist-adjustable Ocular Bell, whereas the TRILUX has a single rocking switch for a 100-200m setting and a 300-400m setting (or thereabouts). Also worth considering are the methods of scope windage and elevation adjustment, with the C1 Sniper having very fine, internal click-adjust settings versus the TRILUX's very coarse external (eg. Mount) adjustments. Finally, it is worth noting that the C1 Sniper Scope has a quick-detach capability with protective Carrying Can, whereas the TRILUX QD was usually disabled with a securing screw to prevent accidental disengagement of the sight unit from the rifle.

In short, the Leitz C1 Sniper Scope was considerably better than its British counterpart, at least in my objective analysis. I do believe that the Canadian scope came first, although the race to fit an optic on the Inch-pattern FAL was apparently a close one.
