Fn fal .308 semi-auto rifles available in canada for $175!

About that time I saw a couple of Bergman 1918 smgs for sale, complete with their snail drums. $125 and $135.

The Indian FN's were about that price in the early 1990's.

I think I paid $125 for my Ishapore 1A1 around early or mid 90's. I got it from Caina in ON.

I miss mine, but I often wonder if everyone would covet one so highly were they legal and everyone had access to them. I would own one, just because. Would I shoot it more than my other battle rifles, perhaps. Bottom line, it is wrong that we don't have the choice or opportunity.

I think there is a lot to the "forbidden fruit" angle. Same with AK's. Not so much different than other guns we can have, but because we can't, we want.

"forbidden fruit" - I can agree with you on that end. I sort of want a snub nosed despite knowing it would just be a novelty.

The FAL on the other hand was a rifle I just wanted and I didn't know was banned haha. I think I went through my entire gun training drooling over FAL pics before someone told me the truth. Oh well, it sucks but I managed to recoup my losses by falling into the world of Mil surps.. Just bought one of those M38's!

The government was paying me to pack one around in 1962 and even supplied the ammunition to shoot it. Now I'm not considered safe enough to own one.

You damn tease! I've been in love with the design ever since I was a wee pup, but alas being only 30 I'll never own one unless we get these ridiculous laws overturned. I'm not sure if I'd be more pissed off if I owned one and could only fondle it. I suppose you had to pin your unusable magazines too.

I bought an Aussie surplus mixmaster in the early '90's for $150 - I think retail was about $200. Since it was built with new parts from all over the commonwealth, it was a pretty darned neat gun.

"...how much $175 was in 1962..." Better part of a month's pay for most people. Minimum wage was well under a buck an hour.

you can pick up a L1A1 now for $550 so from $175 , not such a good return .

you could do better with a LE , I hear a mint condition were going for $20 back then , now they are $600?
