When are you opening a museum.....

Well , if they don't let us shoot them. But it would be a shame to deactivated all of them. Taking a rifle apart and seeing how it was made and how it works is half the fun for me. I remember the first time I took apart a Hakim or was it a Swedish m42b ..I forget. We (where I worked) tried to figure out how to get it apart, we were like 5 of us (age from 19 to 66 years old) and I realised you had to forward a part before you could take it apart.

It's like now with the stencil they put on everything... you'd figure the guy would put it under or somewhere not so in your face but alas ... :(

That must be a nice collection you've got yourself. It's personal or do you exhibit your collection? Have any pictures. I'd love to see them , I'm sure other members would love to see them too. I've got a Indian FaL that's totally beat up but in working condition but I have a Belgium FALO (heavy barrel with bi-pod) in near mint (like a small dent on the stock) in my collection. It had been so long since I went shooting long rifles that when I first got back into the game . I mentioned to another member that I was going to take out my FAl, that he didn't believe me. Told me that they didn't issue transport permit to ranges for grandfathered rifles. Boy, was I shocked:(

Looking forward to your pictures if you have some. Now I just got to figure how to add my pictures directly to my posts. It always asks me for a URL instead of letting me pick from my computer:(

I have several Cdn FNs in deactivated condition, and one which is live but held by a friend who is licensed for the class. Of the 3 C1A1s, two were ex OPP sold by collectors source, and the third one was a DCRA sale. In fact, the original bill of sale showing that FN's serial number (which is rumored to be about the third last one produced) is printed in an early FN book on the subject.

Also in my collection is an EX1, a C2A1, and a SMG C1,again all deactivated.

I still have not decided whether to deactivate the last C1A1 I picked up, that is stored at a friends. The extra copies of the rifles are good for displaying accessories like NVD, scopes, bayonets, grenade launchers, parade gear, etc. Actually, I may have to find a couple more C1s yet.

It's information that I've gotten over the years. But mostly hearsay . I keep hearing of Military issued C1A1 but have yet to see one. It's a part of our history and most FAL collectors say that the Belgium and the Canadian FAL are the nicest to collect. Also (I might be wrong) but the Canadian FAL stays open at the last round , true? And you can reload from stripper clips right there and then with the special dust cover. Instead of having to take out your mag and reload it that way.

You friend who shot his FAL, did he have special permission or did he just shoot it on his land type scenario?

I'm a day from finding out what really is going on with the EX-OPP I was going to buy. I got in contact with someone selling a C1A1 , he sent me pictures, told me a price. I told him I was interested, saw the pictures (told him I wanted it) he didn't answer right away so I called his business and they told me that they had sold it and it was "out of the building".. in 1 day ?? I think not... unless someone offered more ...?? So I sent a request that he confirm that he sold it and if it's a mistake , that I would buy it... so now it's like sitting on pins and needles ..sigh :)

Btw any picx of you C1A1?

I love how the stock is nicely shaped where the stock and the rifle meet. It gives me indication that someone put that much more attention to making the rifle , than most others.

I've got a nice Ex OPP C1A1 in live state, (not for sale).

Apparently every OPP Detachment in Ontario had 2 C1's in their lockups, in the late 80's, they were deemed to be surplus, collected together, and sold out of the country.

An enterprising individual apparently brokered the deal, and managed to re-import over 300 of the rifles back into Canada through England. (Any firearm passing through the UK must pass through a "proof house", which results in the "ENGLAND" stamp on it.)

Commonwealth Militaria (many moons ago) had a number of these for sale, and even had sequentially serially numbered C1A1's for sale, I think at around $1200 a rifle. Ish.

Those are the C1A1's most often seen in the civilian market.

There are also a few C1's that were sold through the Dominion of Canada Rifle Association to it's members direct from Canadian Arsenals Limited.

I was unaware of the "200" that were mentioned below, but there is photographic evidence of a bill of sale for some rifles, and spare magazines to the DCRA shooters shown in the Stevens book.

That all said, a friend of mine has a live EX-1 rifle, and I have a video somewhere of him firing a service rifle match with it several years ago (2004 I think.)

Oh, and for those who think that the FN-C1 was NEVER full auto, you are patently incorrect.

The FN-C1A1D was a full auto variant of the C1A1, used in the Navy.

I'm quite certain that they were never sold to the public. It is, perhaps, the true "unobtanium" version of the C1.

You , me and my mom lol ... bcz that's probably the only way they're gonna let me shoot my FAl's

I'm actually waiting for a reply for one of those . Been waiting for a while to get one ...

Does the Goober have the total kit with the box and everything? on the American market . I've seen the 1500 to 2000 us

Me, I don't care I just want the kit , they can keep the box . As long as it works :)

Good luck

I am needing a .22 kit... Probably had 3 or 4 of the kits in the past when I didn't give a hoot. Now that I want one,the only one I found the goober wanted $1000 and he's keeping it for a while. I ain't going to pay more for: a barrel liner, 2 mags and a bolt, than I paid for the rifle.

We could use a sticky, either here in battle rifles or photos, of the C1 and accessories.

WOW!!!!

Droooool, drip, slurp!!!

Nice condition . Did he get it that way or did he refinish the stock.

Yup, very nice . I'm not a jelous type ...but I have to say . I'm envious of a certain brother in law

Thank you for the picx super appreciated

And your Bro in law can only keep it . He doesn't shoot it?

belongs to my bro-inlaw.

The FNC2 or the GEW 1 ?

I always though it was weird looking but was glad I didn't have to carry it. And I wasn't that interested in Battle Rifles back then. I was a SAS freak as a younger man. I wanted a MP5 or a MP5 SD (with the suppressor) . And anyone who's shot full auto realizes that full auto is a waste of ammo . The first time you shoot full auto ... you're surprised , the rifle goes to the left and you've maybe gotten 1 or 2 rds in your target before the rifle decided to go on a walkabout. There are a lot of WW@ stories where a ton of American tried to run up a beach and a few Rifle men kept them back or vise versa.

But to get back to the GEW 1 or the American version ST58. I like those rifles but so far all the ones for sale are 12.3 and I don't have 12.3 ...wonder if anyone will notice the white out on my PAL if I try?

:)

"...That's a nice rifle too with bi-pod integrated in the front grip..." The C2 LMG had the bipod, not the C1.
"...cannot have a military rifle that was..." Part of the Socialist F**k's plan to eventually have no privately owned firearms in Canada.

From this picture. It looks the stock is a little more reddish. Very nice... more like WOW !!! compared to the one I want to buy , this one looks brand new.

Night scope works?

Wow again , very nice

Thanks for the pictures

With the second type of night vision issued with the FNC1.
