I recently received my new Thermold USA mag, from frontier firearms, and I am kinda under whelmed.

It wasn't feeding right, and had a bit of a rattle to it. When I pulled it apart to inspect it, a couple of plastic pieces fell right out on the floor! Just plastic and hot glue, unbelievable... Also, the 7.62 fmj I loaded it with, they don't come up high enough to clear the mag lip. It's got a bunch of indents from the shells being rammed into the front lip, and getting stuck.

Are there better mags available? Shorter mags preferably.

For which firearm? The RFB?

Yeah, but these issues are 100% mag oriented. The slider just doesn't seem to be coming up high enough. Do they need a break in period? Or a bit of sanding would probably do the trick.

The RFB is mag, ammo, gas port sensitive.

I opened up the feed lips on both the metal and Thermold FAL mags to assist.

These are 20/5 correct?

However quality ammo seems to feed without issue.

I have not had any feed or ammo issues using metal FAL mags in my RFB including using Norc and MFS steel cased stuff.

I had both thermold and metal mags in the RFB and both worked flawlessly. I preferred the thermold because the steel mags scarred the brass

My exact experience with the mags as well. All fed my RFB perfectly but the Thermold were nicer to the brass.

Still no luck. I guess that Thermold USA mags can sometimes be scrap. Where is the best place to buy them? This one was $45 at Frontier Firearms.
