FN-FAL value?

SMALLER pictures please

Sorry...stupid dial up.

What TooTall said....cant shoot em right NOW...I would bet the scope could be worth more than the rifle. Despite the picture sizes its hard to tell the condition of the gun. If its mint condition you (he) might get $4-500.00 for it.

I'd kill for a FN FAL, but under the liberal circumstances... can't help you. Once the CONSERVATIVES WIN the election, we'll see. In the mean time, hang on to it, IMO.

There is one for sale locally last I looked........ Along with a G3 variant.

This is a FA version. It is not a CA, there is no pin blocking the selector from swinging all the way over to "A".
There's no telling what it's worth, and then only to someone else grandfathered for FA's.

Not always so. There are some that slipped through and have the same set up but had the auto cut in in the selector switch was welded in so that only the semi portion would work and they are 12 (3) guns. The selector will still turn to A, but the weld prevents the sear from releasing the hammer. There was some discussion a few years back about the safety sear having to be neutered to make it legal, and some guns were done like this, but it is not true up here at least. In the States the safety sear is verboten.

Sorry for not specifying, but this rifle is converted auto, not full auto. I don't have a list handy of everything that was done to it, but it is semi only.

myenfield, if it is a Converted Auto (CA) then only other grandfathered owners of CA's can buy it. If I were your brother I would hold onto it for awhile longer... it will take the CPC some time, but hopefully more reasonable laws will be introduced that will allow "new" owners of CA's. He wouldn't have any trouble selling it then. But the market is pretty "restricted" right now...

In the current climate we've been selling those for between $150.00 and $450.00, they seem to move at that price. When you could atleast take them to the range the really nice ones went from $450.00 to $650.00 with the 8L series rifles going for $1000.00 +/- $100.00.

By "8L" I assume a C1A1?
I remember seeing a few being advertised in The Gunrunner back in the early '80s (I think by Ontario Gun and Tackle who always had a nice variety of military firearms) for $1200... ex OPP rifles.
$1200 was a LOT of money back then...

I bought my International Firearms L1A1 for $199 back in '91... just a parts gun of course, but works well... and of course as you say, shooting them is a lot nicer then just gawking at them in the gun safe now and then.

Your rifle is an Ex Israeli Army rifle (thanx for the HUGE pic) I doubt the scope and mount came with the rifle and were purchased separately.

If you look just below the carrying handle in the magazine 'lightening cut' you will see a star-of-David and there will also be a Y symbol above it (Israeli acceptance markings). Inside the mag well will be a unique FN serial number (The true rifle serial number) and it will be something like '710589'. The rifle was made circa 1967

If this FN is the only 12 (3) or 12 (5) gun your brother owns, then it is priceless. Cause when your brother sells the FN, he will be out of the prohib game for good.

Fn Fal

I think that regular FM FAL's sell for around $500, that's without the scope mount and scope. I just traded for an Israeli FAL in great condition, and I think I like it better than the English made ones.
I would love to have that unit in my collection but I am only in a trading position at the moment. I would trade some Long Branch No4's for that one.
Or whatever he are interested in military firearms.
