Picked up a Ps90 at a gunshow last weekend. Just so happened it came with a case with custom foam for both itself and a Five seveN pistol; the pistol was not part of the package. Ended up finding one at a gun store for a decent price and think I am going to go for it. Any opinions on them from those that own/have owned them?

Thanks!

Mine is very accurate and extremely flat-shooting. There is barely perceptible muzzle climb and recoil is on par with a .22LR. The down-sides are the cost of ammo and the requirement for an expensive ($160 USD) 2-piece dovetail Mount if you want to aim with an MRDS. Oh yeah, the "fireworks" and report are quite impressive out of the short(er) pistol barrel.

The FiveseveN in your picture appears to be the discontinued IOM or USG model (based the gray manual safety, take down lever, safety and magazine release). These models have a 2 piece metal slide welded together underneath the plastic shroud.
The current model of FiveseveN, the MK 2, has a 1 piece metal slide and is all black (including manual safety, take down lever, safety and magazine release).
SFRC has the MK2 in stock for $1,860. Wait for a holiday sale, take another 12% off that.
If you have a BassPro in your area, they sell the ammunition for $30USD/box. If it’s not in stock, they’ll ship it from another store to your store for free.

Thanks for the detail! I did fully assemble this one onsite and unless I am missing something, it appeared to a one piece slide. I’ll include a picture I took of it. Overall it was in fantastic shape. It appears basically new withlittke to no wear or dings. I was surprised by how much I liked the trigger as well.

Shot one back in the day when some FN reps put on a demo when they were first to become available for sale in Canada. Long time ago now. Interesting, but never cared to personally own one. Congrats on your acquisition, though.

Here's a pic of the inside of the slide. While I wasn't looking for a weld line specifically, I was looking for signs of wear and use and had checked it over quite closely

I like mine too.....the ammo is wasted shooting paper, as it leaves tiny holes.....very powerful snap, but hardly any recoil....light, easy to maintain....way accurate..

Handled one. In a nutshell:

Horrible trigger
Expensive and hard to find ammo
Replacement part might be an issue
Not the best ergonomic/controls

If you are looking to collect, go for it. If you want a shooter, I'd pick something else. The FN Five Seven fall in the same category of the Desert Eagle.

Handled one. In a nutshell:

Horrible trigger Really? Fair enough, to each their own, though I found this one to have a crisp break with almost no overtravel, a pretty short reset, and probably a 6lbs ish trigger pull (just a guess, but I considered it pleasant)
Expensive and hard to find ammo Fair point. Ammo is pricey ish at ~$27usd/50rounds, but it is getting more common and readily available online in Canada
Replacement part might be an issue The FiveseveN's are still in production and in service with a bunch a ton of LEO. I could see parts 'not in stock' being the case, but would expect any FNH dealer to be able to get parts in for it
Not the best ergonomic/controls The controls are definitely different, notably the safety, but I thought it was actually really neat being able to actuate it with the index finger of my shooting hand (it's ambi). Oversized mag release was in the usual spot and is reversible if you're a lefty. And the takedown is on par if not easier than a beretta. Slide catch/release is a little small/low profile perhaps, but seemed to work fine for me. Personally I would consider myself a fan of it's ergs

Thanks for the feedback! I added my experience (limited to handling this one example) slash opinion in bold beside yours. Personally I'm more of a collector than a shooter, but I do shoot what I own eventually and compare it side by side with the rest of the herd. That said, I don't have a lot of time logged with handguns. I'm also not the posturing type that pushes hard opinions without considerable experience. I personally can't speak to the shootability of a Five seveN and would rely on someone like Bartok's experience, as I know he is well versed on most of the modern handguns. But hey, that's why I came to you guys (and gals)! Thank you for the feedback! Glad to hear of the other owners' promising reports on them. I don't want to say this purchase is a smoking deal, but it's favourable and in my neck of the woods..and..I mean the case has factory foam with a cutout meant for it.. so.. the collector in me Has to at least complete the thing for the sake of it, haha.

I'm going to go for it. If it's not for me I'll probably just list it on here, but either way I do like the oddity of a rifle-style round going into a handgun. I'm also a fan of the 'category' this supposedly falls into as I am currently looking for another Desert Eagle as well. Had a pretty gold one in .357, which was actually a nice shooter, and have missed it since selling it.

Happy to have more feedback! Pics are cool too, especially to those that have the ps90/FiveseveN combos ;) **Dr. Hunter**

Happy to provide information, jumped through a lot of the same hoops myself when purchasing.
For your reference I've attached below a photo my MK2 slide.
Another thing to explore, find out if the previous owner fired factory or reloaded ammunition (There's been a lot of stories about FiveseveN's blowing up because someone over filled the cartridge).
