They had that five seven sent over to FNH's factory. Caused by a doubled loaded cartridge (10gr instead of 5gr).
A quick run of the calculator shows that .223 of an inch = 5.66mm. Likewise, 5.7mm = .2244 of an inch
IT'S NOT .223?![]()
Wouldn't mind shooting one.
Special forces in Belgium, Poland and a couple of other countries are using them currently... so I guess they really must suck, eh?
I'm not saying they suck, just that as a civilian you have absolutely no use for such a calibre. It's your money, I guess.
This pistol is basically a .223 slowed down a bit, I don't know how you would say that's a "f*cked up caliber". If you mean uncommon caliber then yes I agree, but every caliber was uncommon at some point until adopted by the military, police or hunters.
How would you know at what distances I would be shooting it? If I took it down into the US I could legally hunt with it, and could conceivably shoot it at 100 yards or more while doing that.
Show me your groupings at 25 yards and we'll see if it's even worth your while to consider 50, let alone 100.
If you don't actually know anything about the gun in question then why throw in your uninformed opinions like they're based on fact or experience?
Shot one way back before they were available for sale when some reps from FN came to BC & put on a demo.
Big whoop-de-doo!
Nothing about it has made me want to own one myself.
I admit not knowing much about the Five Seven, but from what I've read and seen, it's nothing outstanding... so why bother with all these stupid ammo/reloading questions on top of your almost obsessive need to research the hell out of it when you can get something of the same or better quality in a more commonplace calibre for half the price? As previously stated, it's your money, and in my opinion it would be better spent on something more practical and easy to reload.
I have it and it is very nice and pleasant to shoot. Recoil is surprisingly small. You can shoot with it +50m no problem. There is only one problem - cost of ammo. Be prepared to pay $700+tax for 1000rd and even that is considered to be a good deal and is tough to come by.
Reloading shoold help a bit but there is no 5.7 bullets available in Canada.![]()
The bullets are .224 diameter IIRC, could not any 40gr bullet for the myriad of .22 centerfires be used?
