FN Five Seven/PS90

I've been really interested in the 5.7x28 FN firearms for a while and would really like to own a PS90 or a Five-Seven handgun. Unfortunately it seems that these are really hard to come by in Canada, as any dealer that has them on their site doesn't actually have them in stock. I come to the wonderful folks here to either talk me out of buying one or point me in the direction of one :)
 
The 5 rd limit, unicorn ammo, cost and the Pinnochio barrel on the PS90 makes it very unattractive to me. The trigger is also very uninteresting. But you'll be the talk of the range if you ever find one!
There was a set for sale here a while back but my Search came up with nothing. Sorry!
The 57 is a very plasticky feeling and big gun for what it is.

Compared to what? 9mm Luger?

SFRC has 30 boxes of American Eagle ($0.74/rd) and 99 boxes of FN ($0.66/rd) in stock at this moment... and they can get more.

There are several local stores here in Vancouver that have it in stock all the time as well, and others online. You guys are thinking of 8-10 years ago.

4.6x30mm (MP7 ammo), now that is "unicorn", but there are several guys around my neck of the words that source it for their MP7's. It's all how much you are willing to put into it.

If the most you are willing to put in, is to walk into any gun store anywhere and be guaranteed to buy a box, probably the Five Seven and PS90 are not for you.

They are exotic firearms. They are not practical utilitarian "truck guns", nor were they ever offered to the civi market as such. If you want to drink from the exotic waters of your TV/film/video game dreams... go for it. If you want a restricted firearm for anything beyond shooting at an approved range, you're in the wrong country. If you want a non-res PS90 for shooting gophers... you are a rich farmer being silly.

My wife and I learning to shoot a freind's PS90 6 years ago. Lightest recoiling centrefire firearm I have shot.
 
I was considering selling my 10.3" PS90 (with the tri-rail which is no longer in production), but the fresh and fair price of SFRC ammo has made me reconsider. It is my favourite gun.

Oh this I am aware of, whichis exactly why I want one. Just seems that a lot of places have unreasonable prices.
 
I think that if I ever saw a normal-length PS90 (i.e. with the 10.4" barrel) I might not be able to resist it as a little cousin to my FS2000. The 5/50 magazines, though, make baby Jesus cry. 5/10 or even 5/30 I can bear, but a mag with 10% of its original capacity is a damn shame. I'd stil probably buy it, though. :)

my dad picked up a 5/7 pistol a couple years ago and he loves it.
ive had a couple opportunities to shoot the pistol and it is by far the neatest handgun i have ever shot.
if i had the money laying around id pick one up in a heart beat.
as it is ill wait to inherit my dads, haha!

he has been keeping his eye open for a ps90 and will pick one up when he finds one for a price he is comfortable with.
we had a chance to shoot one last year and it was just as neat at the pistol.

i did call SFRC and asked them if they could start to bring in the 5/7 ammo and they have been and very consistently too! they even have it for sale from time to time.
my dad keeps buying stockpiles of the ammo, i think he is afraid they will stop bringing it in once more and it will become hard to get again, but they assured me that as long as people keep buying it they will keep their stock in it topped up.

the lack of muzzle flip and the fire that is pukes out the front give me a full on half chub every time i shoot it (or even think of shooting it!)
ive even offered to go halvers on the PS90 with my dad to spur him into getting it.
soon i think..... soon
